Intaglio collagraph. Signed, titled and numbered 21/150 in pencil below image. Frame 30.5" x 39", Image 23" x 31.5". Doug Forsythe is a well known Canadian contemporary printmaker born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in 1949 . He attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1968 and after moving through several locations in the Maritimes and Ontario his studio is now located in Chester, Nova Scotia. Forsythe works in various mediums including intaglio printmaking, monotype, serigraphy, mixed media, watercolor, oil, acrylics, encaustic and digital. He is best known for his intaglio collagraph prints. Most of the techniques he uses to build his plates are of his own design. He is the author of a definitive guide to building an etching press and his press design can now be found in printmaking studios in thirty different countries. His work has been exhibited throughout North America with shows in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax, New York and Los Angeles . In 1987 his original prints were included in a tour of Canadian Embassies in Holland, France and Germany.
