Lot 63PENALTY! The World Famous Football GameA Pepys Card Game in an illustrated box. The box contains 52 cards, a paper pitch mat, and the rules folder. The game was also issued with a flat round wooden token that was used as the ball, the token is not present. Box dimensions are 6.25" x 6.75". The box has wear at two corners (see photos), the contents are all in good condition with no wear. The black shorts on the goalie indicate this is the first UK edition. Early 1960s.
PENALTY! was invented by Ernesto Scola of Milan working with a team of twelve specialists who took five years, including playing 18,000 trial games, to develop the game. It was first published on the continent and in South America before being published and distributed in the UK by Pepys in the 1960s. The game describes itself as "A game of skill for 2 to 6 players", but in reality is a two-person game.
