A graphic history of the maps that oil companies produced from roughly 1910 - 1980. These maps were given free to customers with the idea that it would stimulate them to drive more and use more gas and oil. It was therefore important that the maps be eye catching and vibrant, so the quality of the graphic design work was high. Most of the maps illustrated are from the US market. Two of the examples are Canadian and one Cuban.
