Goyce Kakegamic was an Anishinaabe painter, printmaker, educator, and community leader from the Sandy Lake Indian Reserve, Ontario. He was generally considered to be last surviving member of the Woodland School of Art. Born in 1948 his older sister was married to Norval Morrisseau and they encouraged him to begin painting and printmaking as a teenager.
After being taken advantage of by a non-indigenous printmaking operation he co-founded the Triple K Cooperative in 1973, which became an important platform for Indigenous artists and printmakers. His art reflects Ojibwe heritage and spiritual imagery. His work is held in major collections, including the Museum of Civilization in Hull and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. He worked as an artist throughout his life as well as serving as the Deputy Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. He died in 2021.
